ο»ΏIs your Offset on Are your PL tones on T- or R-? Reactions 2 Is your Offset on Are your PL tones on T- or R-? Yes, the offset is set correctly as are the PL tones on both transmit and receive. Sounds like you have a lemon. Sounds like you have a lemon. That's what I'm thinking. I bought it about a year ago, but didn't have a license at the time, so I never transmitted on it. Now that I've got my license, there's no warranty. Thankfully, it's cheap to replace. The second UV5-RA I received had a similar problem. Would receive just fine but wouldn't transmit. I bought from Amazon and had no problems returning. Ordered from a different supplier and worked fine. Reactions 1 OP, have you used chirp? If so, I know the possible problem and solution. The original factory default software state got overwritten by chirp when you uploaded your frequencies. Go to the miklor website and find the link to the default state downloads. Get the one that corresponds to your radio per the miklor instructions and upload it via chirp. That should restore it. Then whenever you need to change your radio freq load, download from radio, make changes to that state only and upload it back to chirp. Try a yaesu FT-60, never had one of those that didn't work. I got rid of all the baofengs I had, over a couple of years of use around the ranch the ones I actually had with me every day seemed to develop some problems, guess it was just the environment they were in every day, heat, dust, vibration, and moisture. Had 5 , two had problems, so I gave the other 3 to some friends in a more urban ,standing under a repeater environment, I am pretty sure they are all still using them. OP, have you used chirp? It's really weird because I can transmit in UHF but not VHF. This thread is relevant to my interests. I read an article recently regarding SHTF and use of repeaters. I know very little and would like to get some opinions. That article advocates software defined radios. They are indeed useful for listening, but only listening. It can take a lot of work to get them programmed correctly, and like any other radio, they are no better than their antenna. In a long-term grid down situation, they are not that great because you have to power your computer in order for the radio to work. Most of them can't pick up AM or CB frequencies because they are too low in frequency. They are discussed well in this podcast. In the kind of grid-down situation the article refers to, a regular AM radio will pick up signals from a LONG, LONG way off due to radio silence around here. It's like whispering in a quiet room. Thanks, I'll hit the Podcast - "around here" is lost on me since I'm not certain where that is exactly. The topography here will make it a problem. Thanks, I'll hit the Podcast - "around here" is lost on me since I'm not certain where that is exactly. The topography here will make it a problem. Let me clarify. In a major grid-down situation in the nearly all radio transmitters, especially the big ones, will not be working. As such, it creates a 'quiet' environment for listening to the radio transmissions that are coming from elsewhere Asia, Europe, South America, etc.. This makes listening to low frequency transmissions from those places AM and shortwave radio much easier, especially at night when the sun isn't interfering. Another great podcast regarding all types of radios can be found at I have one that the internal mic quit on. I tried a plug in hand mic from amazon like $5 from baofeng and it works just fine. Give that a try. I have one that the internal mic quit on. I tried a plug in hand mic from amazon like $5 from baofeng and it works just fine. Give that a try. Again, it will transmit UHF just fine, but not VHF. It's not a microphone problem. have you tried it on simplex? that might help figure out if its a split or PL tone issue. I'd get a copy of chirp with a programming cable. It is possible within Chirp to disable VHF or UHF bands individually. We use the same radios at work and I disabled the UHF band so people couldn't transmit on those. If UHF is functioning on the radio, then I'd suspect a software type issue. this is what you have to do to fix it. Super simple Got a new Baofeng UV-5RE and I'm having the exact same problem. It will transmit in UHF fine, but not VHF. Extremely annoying. Cara Setting untuk komunikasi melalui repeater. Memprogram radio UV-5R, contoh Frekuensi Receiver/Monitor Frekuensi Transmitternya Duplex Minus Tone 100Hz Power Transmit Low Power, Set Momori 010 Berikut langkah seting program radio UV-5R untuk contoh diatas.
